How are the Architectural Fees Determined?

  • Each proposal is tailored for each project, can be a fixed fee or hourly
  • Cost can vary based on project type: new home, remodel or addition
  • Fees vary based on project size, location and materials




How much does the Construction Cost?

  • Costs can vary depending project type, size, location, finishes and complexity
  • Factors in the economy can effect project pricing
  • Kitchens, Baths are higher $/SF, basements and garages are lower $/SF

Are Other Design Professionals Needed?

  • A Structural Engineer is required once the initial design is resolved
  • Interior Designers, Landscape Architects or Kitchen Designers are utilized at the client's request, if needed
  • We have a number of consultants we can recommend

How do we get started?

  • First step is an interview to discuss your ideas and the project type, scope, budget and schedule
  • A detailed proposal defining the architect's scope of work and fees is then prepared for your review
  • Once the proposal is resolved, a contract is signed
  • Design work gets underway

How is the Homeowner involved?

  • Bring your ideas, photos, magazines, books etc.for review
  • Review design alternatives, make informed and timely decisions in a collaborative process
  • Meet on a regular basis to review the design progress
  • Provide site surveys, soils reports if required
  • Select a General Contractor

How Long is the Design and Construction Phase?

  • The Design/Documentation phase can take 2-4 months
  • The schedule depends on the project type, size and client's needs
  • Construction can last 3-6 months for remodels/additions  
  • 9-12 months or more for new residences

 


What is "Green Design"?

  • Green Design focuses on the environment, energy use and sustainable materials
  • Design variables include project siting, solar orientation and material selection
  • Utilities, heating and cooling systems and renewable energy are considered
  • Many options are available depending on the client's budget and preference
  • It has always been integral to good architectural design
