On Selecting a Contractor......
Quality, Economy or Time...pick any two!

A balance of quality workmanship, cost management and schedule control is a skill set that challenges the best General Contractors.  The client/contractor relationship is an important one and selecting your General Contractor requires interviewing candidates for a good fit through a process including:

  • Referrals from professionals, friends or family
  • Local Homebuilder Associations
  • Local municipality Building Department
  • Interviewing at least 3 firms; checking references

We have a number of qualified General Contractors we have worked with in the past that are available for consultation.

The Architect's Role:

Project Bidding and Negotiations:  Depending on the services needed by the homeowner, the architect can help prepare bidding documents and invitations and instructions for bidders.

Construction: During this phase the architect assists the homeowner in making on-site observations to see that the project is built according to the plans and specifications. Other tasks can include reviewing contractor's applications for payment, processing changes and generally keeping the homeowner informed of the project's progress. During construction, the contractor is responsible for construction methods, techniques, schedules and procedures.
