About the Firm

Established in 1999, FitzWilliam Architects P.C. is a small, focused Architectural firm dedicated to high quality residential design. The firm's portfolio encompasses a variety of projects including new homes and residential remodels and additions. With over 20 years of experience, Mark FitzWilliam as Principal focuses on personal attention to every project with an approach that balances each project's design, budget and schedule to meet the client's goals.

Our design philosophy is based on a simple belief that every home can benefit from careful planning that considers the site and architectural context, innovative floor planning and careful exterior design and detailing. The goal is a distinctive home that reflects each client's unique needs and desires yet comfortably fits its surroundings. Each residence can reflect a timeless design incorporating contemporary conveniences that mines the rich traditions found in any locale whether urban or rural, modern or traditional.

The office operates out of a newly remodeled studio building located in "rural" Wheat Ridge, Colorado, centrally located in the Denver metro area. Workload and schedules are balanced to insure personal service and quality design and documentation for every project.

Mark FitzWilliam completed undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Colorado, gaining his Architectural License in 1989. Believing that one's education is ongoing, Mark sought employment at the highest quality architectural firms in Denver. Craftsmanship, collaboration, design excellence, and a focus on creative problem solving over style left a lasting impression that still resonates.

Susan FitzWilliam studied at Albion College and also completed her Architectural studies at the University of Colorado graduate school. Licensed in 1986, she gained valuable experience at a number of Denver architectural firms, culminating in a career focus on teaching. She now teaches Architecture to high school students at the Denver Public Schools Career Education Center, a college preparatory
magnet school. As always, her advice and counsel is invaluable, drawing upon years of residential design experience.
